FOR AGES 7 – 12
What is Permaculture? Youth will collectively define this word by engaging in lively exploration, activities, and discussions in this experiential course.
Students will do things like:
Youth should dress for the weather, bring snacks and a lunch, and a metal or nalgene water bottle.
There will be field trips to learn about blacksmithing, earthen ovens, timber framing, urban homestead design, rain-gardens, greywater systems, composting toilets, horse-powered farming, backyard chickens, beekeeping and more!
About Lacey Walker:
Lacey has been wild fermenting, foraging and leading courses at Fox Haven for many years. She got started on farms as an intern at Arcadia Center for Sustainable Agriculture introducing kids to veggies, compost and animal husbandry. Her interest in designing equitable, just and food-forested futures led her to get her Permaculture Design Certification and start adapting her knowledge to engage youth in imagining their own futures.
Parents are welcome to come on the field trips. Transportation is otherwise provided by Fox Haven.
