Chestnut House
Chestnut House is a restored early 19th century farmhouse cradled by beautiful rolling hills on a gravel country road. A creek gurgles in the front yard, woods loaded with birds. It sits on the same part of the farm as the learning center, a repurposed Dairy Parlor, herb farm and orchard, and a big red barn – no animals. Walking trails and the country road provide breathtaking views, birds of all sorts, and the Catoctin Creek is home to big blue herons, eagles, beaver, and plenty of rich plant life – a feast for the senses! Frederick is only 15 minutes away, with all of the fine dining, fine arts, performing arts, wonderful shops and entertainment you need. Antiques, civil war history, rock climbing, canoeing along the Potomac or Shenandoah Rivers, outlet shopping, mountain biking and so much more are all within 15-20 minutes of the house. Washington D.C. is about a 50 minute drive, as is Baltimore. So close, yet you feel so far away.
