Building Your Herbal Relationship

When: 9:30 am – 11:30 am first Sunday, May – October

Meet & Greet and Intro to Tincturing April 7th

End of Season Harvest Celebration November 2nd

Price: $245 per share ($14 will be paid to the Kikeokan Foundation)

Registration Dates: Open until April 30th

Description: This CSA option is appropriate for beginning herbalists and community-based learners. Over the course of the year, we’ll meet 24 new herbs and get to know them through taste, touch, and smell. Through a monthly, hour-and-a-half-long exploration, we’ll come to know these herbs and their uses as food and herbal health support. You’ll learn basic skills like how to clean, prepare, dry, and store your herbs at home. In class, we’ll experiment with different applications covering vinegar infusions, fermentation, salves and infused oils, teas, herbal dips and marinades, tinctures, bitters, oxymel, and ciders. The herbs we will meet in this CSA are nutritive, gentle, and safe. Each month will include a digital newsletter with profiles for each herb as well as resources, recipes, and study suggestions. Each class will be accompanied by a “cheat sheet” full of ideas for how to prioritize your processing and herbal play once you get home with your share. When possible, we will visit wild herbs (like Jewelweed and Cleavers) in their habitat.

When: 9:30 am – 11:30 am pm first Sunday, May – October

Meet & Greet and Intro to Tincturing April 7th

End of Season Harvest Celebration November 2nd

Price: $220 per share ($14 will be paid to the Kikeokan Foundation)

Registration Dates: Open until April 30th

Description: This share is appropriate for past Relationship CSA members, independent learners or those with an established herbal relationship. Once a month Apothecary CSA members will be asked to select their preferences of herbal bundles based on seasonal choices to choose 2 out of the 5 bundles they will receive. CSA members will receive a monthly newsletter profiling the 3 herbs chosen by Fox Haven with suggested books and resources and helpful tips for storing and using herbs, but will be self-guided in their applications and will not have a class designed for them.  Members with an interest in more collaboration are welcome to sit in on the class and can process herbs and socialize during the active portion of the Relationship class. This is an opportunity to begin processing herbs, chat with other herbalists about preparations, sip tea and enjoy the company of fellow herb-enthusiasts.

Membership Share Type: Monthly Pick-up without class at Fox Haven

When: 9:30-11:30 am first Sunday, May – October

Meet & Greet April 7th

End of Season Harvest Celebration November 2nd

Price: $220 per share ($14 will be paid to the Kikeokan Foundation)

Registration Dates: Open until April 30th

Description: You-Pick Membership is a monthly CSA option only available in Frederick, at the farm, that is designed to introduce members to the full plant. Members will be guided through harvesting and can ask questions and share ideas about how and where plants like to grow, how to best harvest them, and how to invite them into your own gardens. This option does not include any formal class on the uses of plants as members will be choosing their own plants. Therefore, this option is best suited to returning members or folks who have a home study. Members will receive the monthly study guide with the month’s themes and recipe ideas.

Buy A Reparation Share for a BIPOC CSA Member: Add a donation to your order

(Suggested Donation: $50 or more)

At Fox Haven, we have spent the past few years at Fox Haven intentionally listening, learning, and reflecting on the roles that our non-profit has played in the systems that perpetuate racism and colonization. Our decision to engage in reparations through offering free and discounted membership options for the BIPOC communities and individuals that we serve continues to deepen our understanding and knowledge base, our relationships, sense of humility, and builds trust. If you would like to support this cause, please add the Sponsor a BIPOC Participant offering to your cart.
