Early Bird Special on Fox Haven Foragers starts now!

Get ready to immerse yourself in nature with Fox Haven Foragers’ year-round foraging adventures! This year, we have TWO year-round programs that highlight different aspects of foraging and land stewardship.

Wild Food Workshops focuses on hands-on foraging, where each month we explore seasonal plants like elderberry, milkweed, and Paw Paw, providing practical knowledge and harvesting experience for those eager to expand their foraging skills.

Land Reciprocity Circle takes you on a deeper, year-long journey into land stewardship. Here, you’ll learn about ecological interdependence, practice sustainable land care, and develop a lasting relationship with nature, all while learning new plants along the way.

Now in its ninth year (woohoo!), Fox Haven Foragers invites you to connect with nature throughout the seasons.

Each month, we’ll explore at least two to three plants that are ripe and ready for harvest. From native plants like milkweed, cattail, and elderberry to fascinating finds like willow, witch hazel, and Paw Paw, you’ll gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in identifying and processing plants.

Try your hand at natural dyeing with fresh herbs, foraging for wild edible mushrooms, plucking ripe Paw Paw, and cooking with cattail, all alongside field experts who will guide you every step of the way.

This series is about more than just gathering—it’s about putting the ethics of foraging into practice. Together, we’ll learn how to interact with wild ecosystems respectfully, ensuring your actions are sustainable and regenerative. You’ll discover when and how to harvest responsibly, how to propagate wild species, and ways to give back to the land that nourishes us.

If you’re ready to deepen your connection with nature and become a more conscious steward of the land, join us. This series was meant for you!

Did you know that cattail shoots are often compared to asparagus for their flavor and texture when cooked? Similarly, milkweed flowers, when harvested young, can add a sweet, floral note to syrups, and have a similar look and taste to broccoli. At Fox Haven Foragers: Wild Food Workshops you’ll have the chance to taste unique wild flavors. plus much more.

Step into the rhythms of nature through the Fox Haven Foragers: Land Reciprocity Circle. This year-long program invites you to connect deeply with the land, learn to see beyond individual plants by exploring the full ecosystem, and find your role within it.Throughout the program, you’ll sharpen your observation skills, uncover new plants, and document your discoveries in a phenological nature journal. From tree grafting to mycoremediation projects, the circle offers a balanced blend of technical skills and ethical land care practices.

Core components of the program include peer-to-peer learning, skill-building, storytelling, and culture creation, all supported by collaboration. Participants will share knowledge, work together on tasks like plant identification, and learn from guest teachers to enrich the experience.

Mycoremediation uses fungi to clean up polluted environments. Oyster mushrooms in particular are known to break down harmful chemicals in soil, water, and air. The mycelium, which is the root system of mushrooms, can absorb toxins such as heavy metals and even oil! In Fox Haven Foragers: Land Reciprocity Circle, we design a mycoremediation project for our stream bed to mitigate road run-off.
