Lion’s Mane Mock Crab Cakes & Fungi 101

❤️ Fox Haven Member Love ❤️

We had a full day of fun events at the farm this past weekend. We first started off with a Spring Ephemerals walk for our members with Lacey and intern-turned-teacher, El McFarland. Pictured are a few plants (Bloodroot and Spring Beauty) we saw emerging after the long winter season and a cute impromptu picnic!

🍄 Learn about Mushrooms🍄

Did you know, fungi connect to 90% of all plants around the world? Join us this Thursday evening for a presentation that goes over the basics of the fungal kingdom including the historical interactions between mushrooms and humans, anatomy, physiology, and identification techniques (including how to make a spore print). We will also discuss a few select varieties that can be found in the East Coast region this time of year, as well as safety tips to keep in mind this foraging season.

Building Your Herbal Relationship is a monthly CSA package with a 2 hr. hands-on class each month. This format is best for beginners and intermediate community-oriented learners. We’ll meet 24 new herbs and get to know them through taste, touch and smell.
Building Your Herbal Apothecary is a monthly CSA option without formal instruction, suited more to the returning CSA member, individual learner, or the intermediate herbalist. Once a month, Apothecary CSA members will be asked to select their preferences of herbal bundles based on seasonal choices to choose 2 out of the 5 bundles they will receive. Apothecary Members will receive a digital study guide with recipes and resources each month.
Want to take it slow? Herbal Basics may be for you (located on our classes & events page under May). In this series, we’ll cover 10 key herbs and prepare an herbal preparation to take home.
