Lion’s Mane Mock Crab Cakes & Fungi 101

❤️ Fox Haven Member Love ❤️

We had a full day of fun events at the farm this past weekend. We first started off with a Spring Ephemerals walk for our members with Lacey and intern-turned-teacher, El McFarland. Pictured are a few plants (Bloodroot and Spring Beauty) we saw emerging after the long winter season and a cute impromptu picnic!

🍄 Learn about Mushrooms🍄

Did you know, fungi connect to 90% of all plants around the world? Join us this Thursday evening for a presentation that goes over the basics of the fungal kingdom including the historical interactions between mushrooms and humans, anatomy, physiology, and identification techniques (including how to make a spore print). We will also discuss a few select varieties that can be found in the East Coast region this time of year, as well as safety tips to keep in mind this foraging season.
