Events: Nature Based Art with Caryl Henry

Caryl Henry is a visual artist, Social Justice activist, educator and traveler. For 25 years she has offered visual arts projects in communities with a focus on creative literacy, community collaboration and arts integrated curriculum. We are so happy to be hosting one of her natured based art classes at our upcoming Farm Day on September 15th.

Most recently, Caryl led a workshop for a group of 14-18 year olds participating in the Prince Georges County Summer Youth Employment Program team. They had been clearing vines and brush from the trees and ground at their local trail. Throughout the 4 week project, Caryl worked with the youth to create a collaborative public sculpture to live on a tree along the river in the park’s Art on the Trails project.

Caryl creates beautiful works of art out of the “waste” of the earth. Truly sustainable in her vision and creativity, we hope you can join us at her upcoming workshop at Fox Haven. Please take a moment to register for the Farm Day activity here.
